The 2008 Tennessee PGA Pro-Junior Championship presented by Forefront Golf was held today at Stones River Country Club in Murfreesboro, TN.  Twenty-two teams, each one comprised of 3 junior players and one PGA professional, came from as far away as Memphis and Knoxville to compete in both the Scramble Division and the Best Ball Division.

The day started with the nationally renowned Dennis Walters Golf Show.  Mr. Walters put on a great performance for the Pro-Junior participants and 60 children from the First Tee of Nashville.  The show features a variety of trick shots intermixed with many valuable lessons about golf as well as life.

After lunch, the tournament kicked off with a shotgun start.  Tournament host Randy Helton, head PGA professional at Stones River, shot a tournament low 66 to win the low professional prize and led his team to a victory in the Scramble Division.  The team shot a 14-under-par 57 for a one shot victory.  In the Best Ball Division, Brian Lackey’s team from Johnny Warren Golf Academy finished at 8-under-par for a 2 stroke victory over 3 other teams.

Special thanks go to tournament sponsors Nathan Kerr of Springfield, TN based Forefront Golf, Brad Beck of Pukka Headware, and Tom Patton of Ashworth.  Thanks also to Randy Helton and Stones River Country Club for hosting the tournament.
