(For Immediate Release)
The Coca-Cola Classic wrapped up today at Oak Ridge Country Club in Oak Ridge, TN. Ninety-six Tennessee PGA Professionals and Amateurs competing in both Regular and Senior Divisions completed the second of two rounds. The day’s conditions, warm with little breeze, presented the players with ample opportunities to fire at the flags.
In the Senior Division amateur Mike Poe of Athens, TN came from 4 strokes back to win after firing a 4-under-par 68. Poe finished with a 2 day total of 142 (2-under-par). Overnight division leader Randy Helton, Head PGA Professional of Stone’s River Country Club in Murfreesboro, shot a 74 to finish third in the Overall Senior Division and to win the Senior Professional Division.
Overnight Regular Division leader Allen Fennell, Head PGA Professional at The Crossings, backed up yesterday’s 64 with a very solid round of 69 to finish with a 2 day total of 12-under-par 132 and a 3 stroke victory. Ray Morton of Lenoir City, TN finished 3 strokes back after rounds of 67 and 68.
The 2008 edition of the Coca-Cola Classic provided yet another exciting finish. Special thanks go to tournament sponsors Coca-Cola and Yamaha for helping to make this a high quality event. Thanks also to Rich Spraker, PGA Professional, and Oak Ridge Country Club for hosting the tournament.
