The Coca-Cola Classic teed off today at Oak Ridge Country with 96 Tennessee PGA Professionals and Amateurs from all over the state competing in both a Regular and Senior Division. The conditions faired well with blue skies for most of the day with an afternoon thunderstorm that rolled in and delayed play for twenty minutes. The course was is an excellent condition and received great remarks for many of the players in the field.
In the Senior Division Randy Helton Head Professionals at Stones River Country Club leads the field by two strokes with a first round 70 (-2 under par). Randy is coming off his win two weeks ago at the Ira Templeton at Creeks Bend with back to back 66’s. Two strokes behind is Rick Harrell amateur out of Sevierville, TN. Doug Harris amateur out of Franklin, TN and Jack Ramesy amateur out of Germantown, TN are tied for third with a pair of 73’s.
In the Regular Division Allen Fennell Head Professional at The Crossings leads the field by three strokes with a tournament low 63 (-9 under par). Chas Narramore amateur out of Kingston, TN is close behind with a -6 under par 66. Look forward to a great finish tomorrow as the leaders battle it out for the chance to claim the 2008 Coca-Cola Championship. |
