Twenty-one Tennessee PGA Professionals teed off in the first round of the 2008 Callaway Golf TPGA Senior Section Championship at Governor’s Club in Brentwood today. Twelve players were also competing for a total of 3 spots in the Senior PGA Professional National Championship to be held at Toscana Country Club in Indian Wells, CA in October.
In the Championship Division, Buddy Harston of White Creek, TN carded a 69 to earn himself an overnight one shot lead. Mark Houser of Kingsport, TN is in second alone after a 2-under-par 70. Six more players are within 5 strokes of the lead, so the title of Tennessee Senior Section Champion is still up for grabs.
In the Gene Dixon Division, Gary Head of Hendersonville, TN shot a 74 for a one stroke overnight lead over John Wylie and Gene Dixon.
