| History of Dudley "Waxo" Green |
|---|
Dudley "Waxo" Green was a Nashvillian who spent his career as a sports writer for the Banner and Tennessean newspapers. Golf was a passion as he followed and covered its hero's for decades. Well known among golf's elite such as, Arnold Palmer, Dr. Cary Middlecoff, Jack Nicklaus and many more PGA TOUR professionals, he always took great pleasure in covering the local events with the same zeal as the National events. If there was a golf tournament in town there is no doubt you would see his famous figure around the course. "Waxo" took a great deal of enjoyment in reporting new talent and many people today trace their success to his efforts.
In honoring "Waxo" and all he stood for on and off the course, this event bears his name. His family wishes to continue this tradition and we are delighted to invite you to join. |
