Memphis Country Club team wins 2008 Cleveland Golf Tennessee PGA Pro-Assistant at Fairvue Plantation
(Gallatin, TN) Tim Rush and Sid Johnson from Memphis Country Club Club took first place with a low round of 63 (-9 under par) in the first Tennessee PGA event of the year. The Honors Course new Head Professional, Henrik Simonsen, introduced himself to the Section in fine fashion as he and his assistant, Patrick Williams, finished in sole second place. Chattanooga Golf and Country Club had a favorable showing as the Brock Brothers (Mitch and Matt) teamed with Head Professional Bruce Etter to finish third and T-4.
The event combined TPGA Professionals with their assistants in a two person better ball format. The weather conditions and facility at Fairvue Plantation could not have been any nicer for the participants. A fine field of 84 professionals gathered for the first event of the season. In all, 31 facilities from all 5 chapters of the Tennessee PGA were represented.
Proud sponsors of this year’s Championship were: Cleveland Golf, Cutter & Buck, and SkyGolf. Many thanks to all our sponsors for contributing to the $11,450 professional purse. The 6900-yard par 72 Lakes Course at Fairvue Plantation (Gallatin) proved to be a fair test for the best of golfers.
Next event on the TPGA Tournament Schedule is the Harold Eller Memorial Pro-Am Presented by Cici’s Pizza (April 21-22).
